Retirement and Travel

After working many years, retirement is usually a highly anticipated time. We think about how we will have the time to do all the things that we never seemed to be able to do prior to retirement.

Then, when time is more plentiful, why is it that some people find themselves restless or bored? Why do certain activities, that at one time seemed so appealing, suddenly seem tiresome or not worthy of pursuit.

Many people spend their whole lives worrying about having the financial means to retire comfortably, yet never consider the preparation involved that is non-financial. Our most valuable resource is time, with 24 hours a day being the maximum time allowed for an individual.

While we are busy with our work and raising families, we often fail to nurture our own hobbies and passions. Then, when we retire, there is a sense of loss and emptiness. Or, we may find that we are involved in many additional activities, as well as our work, but not the activities that truly inspire us.

We pick activities out of obligation or duty. We then retire to those activities, only now it seems we are working full time on those duties. The result, we are unfulfilled.

The solution is as individual as the person. But one fact is certain. We must find ourselves, and what we truly love as soon as possible. To not know what we need to feel useful, creative, or challenged is the main cause of an unhappy retirement.

Many people change careers in their 30's and 40's and even later, because they know they have chosen the career that did not satisfy their needs. Many take the road of doing what they love while they are working, thus never really feeling like it is work to begin with. They, in essence, are retired.

Don't wait for "retirement age" to give yourself permission to enjoy life. While we certainly do not advocate leaving a lucrative or well tended career if you enjoy it, we stress that you enjoy it.

Don't wait until retirement to travel. Travel is a way of connecting to a different environment and routine. It gives us new perspective and new experiences. Also, don't let minor health issues, such as incontinence get in the way of your travel enjoyment.

SeniorsProducts-kdr.com offers Rejoice Travel Kits for men and
women to manage excess moisture from urinary leakage. These kits are designed to give you the protection you need while on the go. They fit easily in small suitcases, packs, and most small purses.
